The species descriptions are based on Pulawski (1995). The species distribution in the key is only given for Arabia, see Pulawski (1995) for general distribution. Two species are not described yet but included in the key under spec. A and spec. B, and will be treated in another paper about new Spheciformes species from Oman (Schmid-Egger & Al-Jahdhami, under preparation). Two species not yet found in Arabia are also included, because they may be found there later.
