Bulimus tricolor Pfeiffer 1853a: 325 . Type locality: Ecuador, Prov. Pichincha, Gualea. Type material: not located. Plekocheilus tricolor (Pfeiffer) ; Richardson 1995: 323 (references, synonymy; see remarks); Breure and Borrero 2008: 7.

Bulimus semipictus Hidalgo 1869: 188 . Type locality: Ecuador, Prov. Napo, Baeza. Lectotype: MNHN ( Breure 1975).

Macias leg./ 30.ix.1995: MUG CN-I- 523; Cotopaxi, Sigchos: DMNH 141696; Imbabura, Ibarra: DMNH 161640; Los Rios, Cerro Samana, Hacienda Clementina, 500 m, X. Comejo leg./ 3.x.2003: MUG CN-I-15207; Napo, Baeza: MNCN 15.05/3161 (2 paralectotypes of B. semipictus Hidalgo), MNCN 15.05/6943 (6 paralectotypes of B. semipictus Hidalgo); Pichincha, Santo Domingo de los Colorados: DMNH 141691; Tungurahua, Topo: DMNH 141700.?, “ Ecuador ” ex Fulton: UMMZ 147734.

Remarks. Richardson (1995) grouped Simpulopsis fulguratus Miller, 1878 with this species. Although the type locality of fulguratus (“in valli Pilatonensi” = Prov. Pichincha, Pilatón valley) falls within the range of P. tricolor , the dimensions given by Miller (1878: 187) as “Long. 18, diam. 13, apert. 14/ 10 mm ” clearly exclude such a grouping. We consider S. fulguratus Miller, 1878 a junior subjective synonym of Simpulopsis (Eudioptus) citrinovitrea (Moricand, 1836) (new synonymy); this species has been reported from the same area ( Breure 1978). The localities listed above span a wide altitudinal range (500–2700 m).
