Trisinus Raffray, 1894 View in CoL
Trisinus Raffray, 1894: 265 View in CoL . Type species: Trisinus cratocerus Raffray, 1894 View in CoL (designated by Lucas 1920: 657).
Batrisoplisus Raffray, 1908: 180 View in CoL . Type species: Batrisus antennatus Weise, 1877 View in CoL (by monotypy). New synonymy.
Diagnosis. Body small (less than 2 mm). Head nearly rectangular; frontal rostrum indistinct; antennal tubercles prominent; with distinct vertexal foveae connected by a U-shaped sulcus. Pronotum lacking spines; median and lateral longitudinal sulci present. Elytra each with two basal foveae, discal striae extending past elytral midpoint; subhumeral fovea and marginal stria present. Abdomen with tergite IV (visible tergite I) largest, with thick triangular ridge formed by inner and outer marginal carinae.
Remarks. The type species of the two genera do not differ in the characters listed above in the diagnosis of Trisinu. For this reason Batrisoplisus Raffray, 1908 is placed in synonymy with Trisinus Raffray, 1894 .
Batrisoplisus View in CoL was originally established for a single species, Batrisus antennatus Weise, 1877 View in CoL . However, the name Batrisus antennatus Weise, 1877 View in CoL is a primary junior homonym of Batrisus antennatus Motschulsky, 1851 View in CoL . Löbl (1998) proposed a replacement name, Batrisoplisus nomurai Löbl, 1998 View in CoL , for Batrisus antennatus Weise, 1877 View in CoL (non Motschulsky, 1851). Recently, Batrisoplisus nomurai View in CoL was synonymised with Batrisoplisus tosanus Nomura, 1991 ( Nomura 2006) View in CoL .
