Canthidium (Neocanthidium) nobile Harold, 1867

Canthidium nobile Harold, 1867b: 70 [here transferred to the subgenus Neocanthidium ]. Type locality: Brazil, Rio Grande do Sul, Caçapava do Sul (“Das südliche Brasilien, Caasapava”; there is another municipality in Brazil with a similar name: Caçapava, in São Paulo state. Nonetheless, since Harold expressly cited that C. nobile type locality was in southern Brazil, and given the rest of the known range of this species, I believe the Rio do Grande do Sul municipality is the most probable “Caasapava” locality Harold was referring to). Type material: Unknown number of syntypes (MNHN—ex Dohrn collection via Harold collection; HMZB). Distribution: Southern Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay (Martínez & Halffter 1986a).
