Granatapfelbaum
Einzige Gattung der Familie der Punicaceae ; die Gattungsmerkmale sind in der Familiendiagnose enthalten.
Die Gattung Punica umfaßt 2 Arten: P. protopunica Balf. ist auf der Insel Sokotra heimisch und besitzt nur 1 Kreis von Karpellen; sie wird als Stammart von P. Granatum (3 Kreise von Karpellen übereinander) angesehen.
