REMARKS
This is generally considered a synonym of Magnolia macrophylla Michx. ( Govaerts et al. 2012). However, no potential type specimen has been traced, so the synonymy cannot be confirmed. The species may have been described by Parmentier from living material he received from Bourg-Argental.
