Embia brasiliensis Gray in Griffith and Pidgeon 1832 and Olyntha Gray in Griffith and Pidgeon 1832, authorship and date of publication
The correct authorship of new insect names in Griffith and Pidgeon (Griffith & Pidgeon 1831; 1832) is properly attributed to G.R. Gray, as specifically indicated by Griffith and Pidgeon (Griffith 1832 #74:784, and see Cowan 1969; Evenhuis 1997) and according to Article 50.1.1. The date of publication of Embia brasiliensis is either 1831 or 1832, but is equivocal. Based on the best data available today the year of publication is 1832 (see above under discussion of Embia ).
No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009. Taxonomic information exchange and copyright: the Plazi approach. BMC Research Notes 2009, 2:53 for further explanation.
