Diagnosis. Nototanaid, female with pleon epimera with long seta. Antennule article-2 without aesthetascs. Mandible molar narrow, with coronate-spinose piercing-crushing tip. Maxilliped bases partly unfused, extending distally over endites, with long seta; endites strongly flared, with two distal tubercles and distomesial seta; palp article-2 with long inner seta. Cheliped sclerite [triangular] extending to posterior margin of cephalothorax; basis with long posterior lobe; carpus with one inferior seta; palm superior and inferior margins parallel, propodus with one inferior seta. Pereopods 1–3 merus naked; pereopods 2–3 carpus with two inferodistal spines only. Pereopods 4–6 carpus with three spines and one seta; propodus with superior PSS (not pereopod-6), superodistal spine shorter than dactylus; unguis just shorter than dactylus. Pereopod-6 propodus with three superodistal spines. Pleopod endopod without mid-superior seta. Uropod rami two-segmented. Male unknown.
Etymology. From Greek stachys, meaning ‘ear of grain’ or ‘pointed’, with ops, ‘eye’.
Gender. Male.
Type species. Stachyops sebparri n.sp., by monotypy.
