Type:— PARAGUAY. Guairá: Santa Barbara, 26 February 1876, B. Balansa 633 ( lectotype, designated here: G barcode G00024855 !; isolectotypes: G barcode G00024856 !, BR barcode BR0000006572815 !) .

Notes: — Cogniaux (1904) described the species without designating the holotype or informing the location of the deposit. The samples collected by Balansa 633 were located in the BR and G herbaria. The sample G barcode G 00024855 is the most preserved and abundant in flowers, thus it is the one that best represents the species and is therefore designated here as a lectotype.
