Type:— TRINIDAD and TOBAGO. Trinidad: s. loc., ex hort., s.d., Messrs. Loddiges s.n. ( lectotype, designated here: K-L s.n.!).
Notes: — Lindley (1838b) described the species based on material under cultivation, though without designating the holotype. Material was found in the collection at the K herbarium that corresponds to the information described by him in the protologue and it is designated here it as a lectotype.
