Sargus thoracicus Macquart, 1834: 261 . Syntype: female (unknown depository institution, according to Woodley 2001: 229). Type locality: “Amérique méridionale”.

= Sargus concinnus Osten Sacken, 1886: 23 . Lectotype: female (NHMUK), by designation of McFadden (1972b: 261). Type locality: Guatemala, San Gerónimo (= San Jerónimo). Syn. by James & McFadden (1982: 8)
