COMMON NAME (S): Grass moth or Crambid Snout Moth.
SYNONYM(S): Botys marginalis Guenée, 1854 .
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).
DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Cameroon, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, India, Kenya, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Nigeria, Réunion, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
OCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Chingola, in Copperbelt Province ; Chongwe, in Lusaka Province.
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larval foodplants include: two Malvaceae species ( Gossypium sp. and Sida rhombifolia L.) in the Democratic Republic of Congo and one yet to be identified Passifloraceae species ( Adenia sp. ) in an unnamed African country or countries. One yet to be identified Passifloraceae species ( Adenia sp. ), one yet to be identified Malvaceae species ( Gossypium sp. ) and one known Malvaceae species ( Sida rhombifolia L.) are reported as larval foodplants of the taxon by the African Moths (2019) webpage.
