Synonyms: Cypris incongruens Ramdohr 1808 ; Monoculus conchaceus Linnaeus 1758 (= senior synonym); a full list of synonyms can be reviewed in Meisch et al. (2019).
Type locality: standing water near the entrance of the Botanical Garden , Neumarkt, Halle, Germany (51º29’ N, 11º57’ E) GoogleMaps . Type (♀)— PAU, O–93 F1, Fa .
In Venezuela: at the following locality according to Margalef (1961): NUEVA ESPARTA State —no location details, La Asunción, Margarita Island (GN 11º02’00” N, 63º51’46” W) GoogleMaps .
Remarks: this species has a cosmopolitan distribution ( Meisch et al. 2019). In the Neotropical region, it has been recorded in Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, and Venezuela ( Martens & Behen 1994). Margalef (1961) mentions that the specimens recovered on Margarita Island only correspond to females, which were small in size, and the reference material is deposited in the IPP.
