Additional comments: This species has been incriminated as potential enzootic vector of Eastern equine encephalitis virus ( Cupp et al. 2003, 2004) and as a potential vector of West Nile virus ( Cupp et al. 2007) in the southern region of North America. Cohen et al. (2009) considered Cx. erraticus View in CoL as a vector, both enzootic and epizootic, of Eastern equine encephalitis virus in southeastern United States given its opportunistic feeding patterns and its distribution.
