"Habitat in Europae collibus sterilibus saxosis." RCN: 562.

Lectotype (Cope in Cafferty & al. in Taxon 49: 252. 2000): Herb. Linn. No. 86.1 ( LINN) .

Current name: Melica ciliata L. View in CoL ( Poaceae ).

Note: Stearn (in Biol. J. Linn. Soc. 5: 11-12. 1973), in an account of Linnaeus’ Öland and Gotland journey of 1741, treated Vible in Gotland as the restricted type locality, and noted the existence of 86.1 (LINN). In his paper, he attributed restricted type localities irrespective of whether any material existed in LINN and, where specimens do exist, he does not refer to any of them as type specimens. The collection subsequently designated as the type shows no annotation associating it with Gotland. Although Kerguélen (in Lejeunia, n.s., 75: 210. 1975) stated "Type: ...LINN", this is not accepted as a formal typification, for the reasons explained by Cafferty & al. (in Taxon 49: 240. 2000).
