Type Locality: Brazil, Acajutuba, lower Rio Negro, near its mouth.
Vernacular Names: Rio Negro Brush-tailed Rat.
Distribution: NC Brazil along the Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes.
Discussion: Included in bistriata until recognized as distinct species based on sequence, chromosomal, and morphological differentiation ( Bonvicino et al., 2003 a). Karyotype has 2n=60, FN=112 ( Bonvicino et al., 2003 a).
