Distribution: Argentina: Río Negro ( ornata ) Province; Chile: Aisén, Cautín (AFN, personal data), Chiloé, Llanquihue (AFN, personal data), Magallanes, Malleco (AFN, personal data), Ñuble, Osorno (AFN, personal data), Palena (AFN, personal data), Talca (AFN, personal data), and Valdivia Provinces.

= Dasypelates ornatus var. nigrobasalis Jeannel, 1957: 46 (infrasubspecific, unavailable). Types not designated; from same locality as types of ornatus ( Jeannel, 1957) .

= Topaliola ornata Hlisnikovský, 1964b: 314 ; Newton, 1998: 167 syn. ( holotype seen). Holotype female in HNHM. Type locality: El Bolsón, Río Negro Province, Argentina.
