Falkocholeva Hatch, 1928: 208 ; Jeannel, 1936: 156 (redescription). Type species: Choleva falklandica Waterhouse (= Choleva cribellata Fairmaire & Germain ) (orig. des.).
= Falkocholeva Jeannel, 1936: 156 (as “new genus” ( Falkocholeva Hatch [1928] considered nomen nudum)). Type species: Choleva falklandica Waterhouse (= Choleva cribellata Fairmaire & Germain ) (orig. des.).
Distribution: Southern Chile, southwestern Argentina, and Falkland Islands.
Biology: Carrion scavenger in forests.

(not stated as taxonomic change), 1962: 519; Szymczakowski, 1965: 246; Gnaspini, 1999: 378; Salgado, 2005b: 214, 2006: 102, 2017a: 82. No information about types in original description;? Syntype (s) (sex and number of specimens, and depository, not given in Jeannel, 1936, who states he did not examine the species) in MNNC [in Jeannel, 1962]. Type locality: Concepción, [Concepción Province], Chile. Distribution: Argentina: Río Negro (also f. edwardsi ), Santa Cruz (also obscurus ), and Tierra del Fuego Provinces; Chile: Aisén, Cautín, Chiloé, Coihaique, Concepción, Llanquihue (also f. edwardsi ), Magallanes (also f. edwardsi ), Malleco, Ñuble, Osorno, Palena, Quillota, Talca, Tierra del Fuego (also falklandica ), and Valdivia Provinces; Falkland Islands ( falklandica ).

= Dasypelates obscurus Pic, 1928: 2 ; Newton, 1998: 167 comb. (to Chiliopelates ); Gnaspini, 1999: 378 syn. Syntypes (sex and number of specimens not given, in Bruch and Pic collections, in original description) in MNHN and MACN [in Gnaspini, 1999]. Type locality: “ Argentina ” [Valle Tunel, Gob. Santa Cruz, as in 3 female specimens labeled “types” from MACN examined by Gnaspini, 1999].
= F. falklandica edwardsi Jeannel, 1936: 158 , 1957: 54, 1962: 519; Szymczakowski, 1965: 246 syn. (not stated as taxonomic change; given as “ F. cribellata edwardsi Jeannel, 1936 ”, based on the synonymy of F. falklandica with F. cribellata by Jeannel, 1962).? Syntypes ( 3 specimens, sex not given in original description) in BMNH or MNHN (although Jeannel used to designate a holotype, the original description does not do that and cites both collections as depository for the specimens seen; Szymczakowski, 1965 does not cite types). Type locality: Bariloche, Río Negro Province, Argentina.
