Genus Falkocholeva Hatch

Falkocholeva Hatch, 1928: 208 ; Jeannel, 1936: 156 (redescription). Type species: Choleva falklandica Waterhouse (= Choleva cribellata Fairmaire & Germain ) (orig. des.).

Distribution: Southern Chile, southwestern Argentina, and Falkland Islands.

Biology: Carrion scavenger in forests.

Type locality: Concepción, [Concepción Province], Chile. Distribution: Argentina: Río Negro (also f. edwardsi ), Santa Cruz (also obscurus ), and Tierra del Fuego Provinces; Chile: Aisén, Cautín, Chiloé, Coihaique, Concepción, Llanquihue (also f. edwardsi ), Magallanes (also f. edwardsi ), Malleco, Ñuble, Osorno, Palena, Quillota, Talca, Tierra del Fuego (also falklandica ), and Valdivia Provinces; Falkland Islands ( falklandica ).

Santa Cruz, as in 3 female specimens labeled “types” from MACN examined by Gnaspini, 1999].
