Sphaerocatops Portevin, 1907: 67 View in CoL (as genus, replacement name for Spathosternum Portevin, 1903a: 165 ; Jeannel, 1936: 46 syn. and reduced to subgeneric status, not stated as taxonomic change). Type species: Spathosternum haemorrhoidale Portevin (monotypy). [as “ Spaerocatops ” [sic] in Salgado, 2004: 2, key].

= Spathosternum Portevin, 1903a: 165 (preoccupied, not Krauss [1877]). Type species: Spathosternum haemorrhoidale Portevin (monotypy).
