= Apharia Reitter, 1881: 87 View in CoL (in footnote), 1884: 91 syn. (not stated as taxonomic change). Type species: Apharia melitophila Reitter (monotypy).

Distribution: Neotropical.

Biology: Eyeless and flightless, in meliponine bee nests. The adults probably disperse to new bee nests by phoresy on the bees ( Roubik & Wheeler, 1982).
