Genus Thanasimus Latreille View in CoL View at ENA
Thanasimus dubius (Fabricius) : Introduced to southern and eastern Australia for control of Ips grandicollis (Eichhoff) ( Curculionidae : Scolytinae ) during the 1980’s though reportedly failed to establish ( Morgan et al. 1991). The only specimens I have seen in collections are voucher specimens from rearing programs. I know of no wildcollected specimens.
Distribution: Canada, U.S.A., Mexico ( Corporaal 1950a).
Status: Non-native and absent in Australia (biocontrol agent with no evidence for establishment beyond release).
No known copyright restrictions apply. See Agosti, D., Egloff, W., 2009. Taxonomic information exchange and copyright: the Plazi approach. BMC Research Notes 2009, 2:53 for further explanation.
