Type Locality: Indonesia, NE Sulawesi, Lembean, near Tondano.
Vernacular Names: Northeastern Mountain Taeromys.
Synonyms: Taeromys simpsoni (Ellerman 1949) ; Taeromys tatei ( Sody 1941) .
Distribution: Sulawesi: recorded only from highlands on the NE peninsula, 600- 800 m.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Reviewed by Musser (1971 d). Taeromys taerae is the NE peninsular highland and morphological relative of T. hamatus , which is found only in mountains of central Sulawesi.
