Nycterimyia Lichtwardt, 1909 View in CoL
Nycterimyia Lichtwardt, 1909: 648 View in CoL . Type species: Trichopsidea dohrni Wandolleck, 1897 View in CoL , by monotypy.
capensis Bezzi, 1924: 168 View in CoL . KwaZuluNatal; Limpopo.
Discussion: This is a very rarely collected species, with only two known South African specimens. All Afrotropical material of the genus has recently been revised ( Barraclough 2005a 2006).
Relationships: As suggested above, Nycterimyia and Atriadops clearly appear to be related. The wing venation shows fairly complex fusion of the apical veins. A further apomorphy is the fusion of the first and second antennal segments ( Barraclough 2005a).
