Trachynotothrips Masumoto & Okajima View in CoL
This genus was erected for two Southeast Asian species together with a key to distinguish them, and with T. striatus as type species. The species have a strongly enlarged metathoracic furca ( Fig. 34 View FIGURES 31–39 ), similar to that of Dendrothripinae and some members of Panchaetothripinae. This structure may be associated with thrips jumping activity rather than indicating any phylogenetic relationship ( Masumoto & Okajima 2005). Two Trachynotothrips species are here recorded from China for the first time.
