Type species. Psammochares pamirus Haupt, 1930a View in CoL , ♀ nec ♂ (= Pamirospila pamira (Haupt, 1930)) View in CoL , by original designation.

Diagnosis. Female. Flagellomeres shortened and thick ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Protarsomeres shortened ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Propodeum with postero-lateral corner somewhat convex, with rugae posteriorly and postero-laterally ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Head, propodeum, and tergum 1 with long dense erect setae. Pterostigma small and crossvein cu-a postfurcal ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 1–8 ). Male. Antenna normal shaped, flagellomeres neither shortened nor thickened. Propodeum normal shaped, without any projections. Mesotarsomere 1 with long erect spines. Meso- and metatarsal claws not bifid, with small inner vertical tooth. Fore wing with three submarginal cells, pterostigma small. Head and mesosoma with dense erect setae. Hypopygium spatulate in ventral view ( Figs 17, 19, 21, 23 View FIGURES 9–28 ), almost flat or with median longitudinal carina in lateral view ( Figs 18, 20, 22, 24 View FIGURES 9–28 ).

Species included. Seven species, including a new one, listed below.

Distribution. Afghanistan ( Wolf 1970), Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan ( Zonstein 2002a,b), Turkey ( Yildirim & Wahis 2011), Iran ( Enayatnia et al. 2018).

Biology. Prey is funnel-web spiders of the family Nemesiidae . Wasps inhabit mountainous areas at altitudes from 800 to 3700 m above sea level: the foothills and plains, mid-mountain biotopes, and the highlands ( Zonstein 2002a).
