Basionym: Navicula hennedyi var. cuneata A. Schmidt in A. Schmidt et al. (1874: pl. 3, fig. 4)
Navicula hennedyi f. cuneata (A. Schmidt) Hust. (1961–1966: 455, fig. 1517)
Valves elliptic with strongly cuneate or rostrate apices; lateral areas relatively large, semi-lanceolate, encompassing almost 1/3 of the valve width. Striae slightly radiate, relatively long, 9–11 in 10 µm.
Distribution:—Marine species, rather rare variety, known from the Mexican coast (Campeche Bay) (Schmidt et al. 1874–1959), and from the Mediterranean Sea (Villefranche) (H. & M. Peragallo 1897 –1908). Black Sea, Bulgarian coast ( Temniskova-Topalova & Petrova-Karadjova 1998).
