Diagnosis. face yellow pruinose; frons black, yellow pruinose laterally; palpus black, with white and black setae on first segment and black setae on second; pronotum black, gray pruinose; scutum black, gray pruinose laterally; coxae black, gray pruinose, white setose, femora, tibiae and tarsomeres black, all covered with thin black pruinescence; wing slightly brownish; abdomen black, tergites 1–4 with triangular patch of gray pruinescence laterally, lateral of tergites 2–4 with long, thin, white setae.
Redescription. Holotype female. Measurements: body: 21 mm; wing 14 mm. Head: face yellow pruinose, parafacial region black; mystacal setae black, frons yellow pruinose laterally, a tuft of black setae above insertion of each antenna; orbital setae black; ocellar tubercle black, black setose; postocular setae black; occiput gray pruinose; upper occipital setae black, lower occipital setae white; palpus black with white and black setae on first segment, black setae on second; proboscis black, white setose ventrally; black antennae, scape and pedicel black setose, postpedicel with sparse yellowish pruinescence, black setae on basal half dorsally. Thorax: second cervical sclerite black, gray pruinose and thin white setae; pronotum black gray pruinose, antepronotum with thick and thin black setae on anterior border, postpronotum with black, thick and thin setae laterally; proepisternum with thin white setae; postpronotal lobe black setose; four notopleural, four supra-alar and four postalar setae; scutum black laterally, postpronotal lobe and postalar sclerite gray pruinose, paramedial stripe with weak gray pruinescence, medial stripe black, not contrasting with ground color of scutum; dorsocentral setae beginning just before transverse suture, scutellum gray pruinose, at least two pairs of long black marginal setae; pleura black covered with gray pruinescence; anepisternum black setose; katepisternum white setose. Legs: coxae black gray pruinose, white setose, more abundant on fore coxa; femora, tibiae and tarsomeres black; femora, tibiae and tarsomeres covered with short and thin black setae, fore and mid femora with thin and long white setae ventrally, tibiae with thick and long black setae, tarsomeres black setose: pulvillus yellowish; claws black Wing: slightly brownish; hyaline alula; brown halter. Abdomen: black, tergites 1–4 with triangular patch of gray pruinescence laterally; tergite 1 with thick black setae laterally, long and thin white setae anteriorly, some black on posterior margin; tergites 2–4 with thin and long white setae laterally, short black setae dorsally; remainder tergites black pruinose; sternites 1–4 black, gray pruinose with long and thin white setae, sternites 6–8 sternites black, black setose. Terminalia: acanthophorite spines black; cercus wider than long, apex truncated ( Figs. 40, 41 View FIGURES 40 – 42 ); sternite VIII with membranous mediolateral areas subtly connected anteriorly, length of membranous mediolateral area greater than twice width, posterior margin with medial invagination that meet membranous central area forming two valves with pointed apex, lateral invagination followed by mediolateral membranous area ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 40 – 42 ). Spermatheca as in figure 42.
Variations. body 16–22 mm; wing 11–14 mm; palpus black setae; coxae with sparse black setae, femora black setose mixed with white setae ventrally.
Comments. Neodiogmites niger can be distinguished by the general black color, face yellow pruinose, gray triangular pruinose spots on tergites 1–4 laterally. The holotype of N. albomarginatus is in very poor condition. It was not possible to distinguish significant characters of the species. Thus we chose to maintain the synonym of N. albomarginatus with N. niger pending further study.
