Lectotype (Merrill, Interpret. Rumph. Herb. Amb.: 33, 494. 1917): [icon] “Poppya silvestris” in Rumphius, Herb. Amboin. 5: 414, t. 152, f. 2. 1747.

Current name: Momordica trifolia L. ( Cucurbitaceae ).

Note: Jeffrey & de Wilde (in Taxon 48: 599. 1999) proposed the name for rejection as its type, a Rumphius plate, is identifiable as the widespread M. cochinchinensis (Lour.) Spreng. However , the proposal was later withdrawn by its authors – see Brummitt (in Taxon 53: 814. 2004).
