Diagnosis: Discussed under E. fuscobasalis . Another closely related species of E. costaemaculalis is E. eximia Whalley, 1963 , the diagnosis is discussed under the latter.

Distribution: India (Darjeeling, Himalayas, NW Himalayas, Dalhousie, Sikkim ( Snellen 1890, Hampson 1896a,b, Wang & Li 2005, Singh et al. 2022), Uttarakhand (present study)), Siberia, Japan, Tibet, China (Guangdong, Hebei, Henan, Hubei, Zhejiang), Taiwan, Korea, Russia, Pakistan ( Hampson 1896a, Whalley 1963, Wang & Li 2005, Pathania et al. 2021).
