Oedignatha wuyong Lin & Li , sp. nov. ( Figs 11–12 View Figure 11 View Figure 12 , 14A–B View Figure 14 )
Etymology. The species is named after Wu Yong, one of the 108 outlaws in the classical Chinese literature Outlaws of the Marsh; noun in apposition.
Diagnosis. The male of the new species can be distinguished from all congeners by the dorsal retrolateral tibial apophysis being separated from the ventral retrolateral tibial apophysis and the cymbium being three times longer than wide. The female can be distinguished by the L-shaped copulatory openings.
Description. Male (holotype). Total length 4.37; carapace 2.22 long, 1.53 wide, opisthosoma 2.15 long, 1.51 wide. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.10, ALE 0.11, PME 0.09, PLE 0.09, AME–AME 0.11, AME–ALE 0.15, PME–PME 0.20, PME–PLE 0.18, AME–PME 0.17, ALE–PLE 0.08. Chelicerae with three promarginal and four retromarginal teeth. Leg measurements: I 7.52 (1.95, 2.54, 1.96, 1.07), II 5.80 (1.54, 1.89, 1.46, 0.91), III 5.07 (1.38, 1.50, 1.39, 0.80), IV 7.02 (1.75, 2.13, 2.06, 1.08). Leg spination: I tibia 9pv, 8rv, metatarsus 6-6v; II tibia 7-7v, metatarsus 5pv, 4rv; III metatarsus 1pl; IV tibia 1-1v, metatarsus 1rl.
Coloration ( Fig. 14A View Figure 14 ). Carapace, chelicerae, endites, labium and sternum dark red. Legs red-brown. Opisthosoma oval, dark red with small black spots, laterally folded, ventrum dark brown with ventral scutum covering opisthosoma. Dorsal scutum strongly sclerotized. Spinnerets short, yellow-brown.
Palp ( Fig. 11 View Figure 11 ). Retrolateral tibial apophysis bifurcate, stout, shorter than cybium. Cybium three times longer than tibia. Tegular apophysis oblong. Conductor white, bifurcate. Embolus arising at clock 8:30 position, broad, with longitudinal groove over entire length, strongly bent at tip.
Female (IZCAS-Ar43844). Total length 4.48; carapace 1.93 long, 1.36 wide, opisthosoma 2.55 long, 1.58 wide. Eye sizes and interdistances: AME 0.09, ALE 0.09, PME 0.09, PLE 0.09, AME–AME 0.07, AME–ALE 0.09, PME–PME 0.17, PME–PLE 0.14, AME–PME 0.10, ALE–PLE 0.06. Chelicerae with three promarginal and six retromarginal teeth. Leg measurements: I 6.23 (1.62, 2.21, 1.55, 0.85), II 4.94 (1.29, 1.69, 1.24, 0.72), III 4.40 (1.16, 1.35, 1.19, 0.70), IV 6.13 (1.55, 1.97, 1.73, 0.88). Leg spination: I tibia 8-8v, metatarsus 6pv, 5rv; II tibia 7pv, 6rv, metatarsus 5-5v; IV tibia 2pv, 1rv.
Coloration ( Fig. 14B View Figure 14 ). Similar to that of male except paler, and dorsal scutum almost covering opisthosoma.
Epigyne ( Fig. 12 View Figure 12 ). Epigynal plate rectangular, copulatory openings wide, straight. Copulatory ducts nearly elliptical in dorsal view. Spermathecae oval, separated by less than their diameter from each other. Fertilization ducts directed at clock 2:00 position from spermathecae.
Material examined. Holotype ♂ (IZCAS-Ar43841), Vietnam: Vinh Phuc, Tam Dao National Park, Natural Forest (21.5250°N, 105.5572°E, elev. 1060 m), 11 March 2008, Dinh-Sac Pham leg. Paratypes. 3♀ (IZCAS-Ar43842–Ar43844), same data as holotype GoogleMaps .
