Terrestrial. Stem erect. Cataphylls and prophylls brown, marcescent. Petiole 7.0– 19.9 cm long, green, vinaceous at the base, abaxially obtuse, adaxially sulcate with obtuse angles, geniculum 1.0– 1.6 cm long. Leaf-blade 7.4–13 × 3.2–7.1 cm, green, slightly discolorous, perpendicular to the petiole, membranaceous, ovate, with a bullate surface, base cordate, apex obtuse-acuminate, absence of glandular dots. Midrib green, prominent, acute on both sides, primary lateral veins strongly engraved adaxially, strongly prominent abaxially, 4–7 on both sides, secondary and tertiary veins reticulate, basal vein 1, ending at the base of the posterior lobes, collective veins leaving from the base of the leaf blade, 0.5– 0.3 cm distant from the margin. Inflorescence. Peduncle 4.5–6.7 cm long, vinaceous, abaxially obtuse adaxially sulcate with obtuse angles. Spathe 1.5–2.9 × 0.3–0.4 cm, reddish. Spadix 1.1–3.8 cm long, homogeneous, reddish, cylindrical, tapered, stipe 0.2–1.6 cm long, cream-colored pollen grains, bisexual flowers, main spiral with 3 flowers, alternate spiral with 4 flowers, greenish unripe berries.

Distribution: — Anthurium fontellanum is endemic to Brazil, occurring in Minas Gerais and São Paulo ( Flora do Brasil 2020). It was found at the Pico do Boné, road to the Laje de Ouro, and Matipó trails (northern PESB).

Ecology and phenology: —Found in populations with 3–4 individuals at elevations ranging from 1588 to 1710 m in the Pico do Boné trail. However, in the Laje do Ouro trail, at lower elevations (1360 to 1460 m), large populations with 10–20 individuals were found ( Fig. 2F View FIGURE 2 ). In the PESB, it was found with flowers in June and July.

Taxonomic notes: —Characterized by its bullated leaf blade and reddish spadix.
