7. Galactia dimorphophylla Fortunato, Sede & Luckow (2008: 350) View in CoL . Type: — ARGENTINA. Corrientes: Santo Tomé, Fortunato & Luckow 7552 (holotype BAB!) .
Subshrub up to 0.5 m tall; leaves unifoliolate on young plants and at the base of mature specimens, pinnately trifoliolate at the plant apex; inflorescences sub-capituliform; flowers aggregated; plant endemic to RS.
Selected specimen: — BRAZIL. Rio Grande do Sul: Giruá , 29 November 1966, K. Hagelund 4960 (ICN) .
Distribution: — Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil (RS).
Habitat and ecology:—Pampa biome, growing in grassland and brushland, in laterite soils, on rocky slopes and on hillsides.
Notes: —the species was recently described from northwestern Argentina and northern Uruguay, close to the Brazilian border. Fortunato et al. (2008) predicted the occurrence of this species in Brazil, and we confirm this. Illustrations in Fortunato et al. (2008).
Phenology:— Flowering and fruiting from January to April.
