Variation. Intercubiti about same size (vs. first intercubitus shorter than second); second recurrent vein meeting areolet at its middle ( Fig. 5A ) (vs. apical 0.3–0.4); hind wing nervellus intercepted a little bellow middle (vs. at middle).

Comments. Differently from all other species in the genus, which are from Central and South America, all the examined specimens of the exclusively Nearctic A. discoidaloides are quite uniform in color, without relevant variation.

Distribution. United States (Alabama, Arkansas NR, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa NR, Kansas, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska NR, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tenessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin) ( Fig. 18J ).

So far, this is the Agonocryptus species most strictly found in low altitudes, typically observed around 100 m ( Fig. 21A ).
