Type Locality: Costa Rica, Guanacaste, Pozo Azul.
Vernacular Names: Hairy Big-eared Bat.
Distribution: Honduras to French Guiana, Trinidad, Amazonian Brazil, Peru, and Ecuador.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Placed in subgenus Xenoctenes by Sanborn (1949), but see Simmons (1996).
