Distribution in South America: Atlantic Ocean, Brazil to Argentina, from 33ºS to 67ºS (Alvariño 1981; Pugh 1999; Migotto et al. 2002)

Habitat: oceanic species. It is a typical species of the austral high latitudes (Alvariño 1981; Pugh 1999).
