Taxonomic history. Uchida (1926) transferred this species to Amblyteles Wesmael, 1845 , Heinrich (1931) then to Triptognathus Berthoumieu, 1904 , and Heinrich (1937) finally to Fileanta Cameron, 1901b . The specific name ‘ cursorius ’ was preoccupied by Zetterstedt (1838), hence, Townes et al. (1965) proposed the replacement name ‘caterythra’ for Smith’s species.
Current taxonomy. Primary homonym, valid name: Fileanta caterythra Townes, Momoi & Townes, 1965 ( Ichneumonidae : Ichneumoninae : Ichneumonini ).

Type status. Lectotype, designated by Townes et al. (1965).
Sex. Female.
Type locality. Hyôgo Prefecture, Honshû, Japan.
Label data. First label, ‘ Type /CM’ (round label, with red margin; first line printed and second line handwriting); second label, ‘B.M. TYPE /HYM./3b.319’ (square label; first and second lines printed and third line handwriting); third label, ‘B.M. TYPE / HYM./ Ichneumon /cursorius/( Smith1874 ’ (square label; first and second lines printed and third to fifth lines handwriting); fourth label, ‘Hiogo/ Japan.’ (square label; first line handwriting and second line printed); fifth label, ‘ I. cursorius / Type ♀ Smith’ (square label; handwriting); sixth label, ‘ Amblyteles /Morley det.’ (square label; first line handwriting and second line printed).
Condition. Good, but right mid tarsus, right hind tarsus after first tarsomere lost, and right wings are broken.
Remarks. Although both sexes were described by Smith (1874), only the lectotype female can be found in NHMUK.
