Taxonomic history. Morley (1913b) suggested that L. semistriata is related to or a synonym of Earinus gloriatorius ( Panzer, 1809) . Townes (1961) transferred this species to Agathis , and Sharkey (1996) then to Bassus Fabricius, 1804 .

Taxonomy. We propose a new combination, Therophilus semistriatus ( Walker, 1874) comb. nov., based on recent work splitting the old concept of Bassus (which is now restricted to a few species; e.g. Sharkey and Chapman (2015)).

Current taxonomy. Therophilus semistriatus ( Walker, 1874) comb. nov. ( Braconidae : Agathidinae ).

Type number. Type 3c.902. Specimen # NHMUK010881036

Type status. Holotype.

Sex. Female.

Type locality. Japan.

Label data. First label, ‘Type’ (round label, with red margin; printed); second label, ‘B.M. TYPE /HYM./3.c.902.’ (square label; first and second lines printed and third line handwriting); third label, ‘ Japan./Coll.F. Walker./ 1913–71.’ (square label; printed); fourth label, ‘ Lissonota /semistriata’ (square label; handwriting); fifth label, ‘262’ (square label; handwriting); sixth label, ‘?/ Earinus / gloriatorius, Pz ♀ /Morley det. xii 1913 ’ (square label; ‘Morley det.’ printed and the remaining characters handwriting).

Condition. Rather good; apical flagellomeres of both antennae, left wings, fore legs except for coxae lost.
