Remarks: Drawing in Chen & Chung (1971) based on THUP 01258 (as Dasyatis kuhlii ); specimen whereabouts not known. Possibly a species complex. A phylogeographic study by Puckridge et al. (2013) provided further insight into the taxonomic complexity of this species complex. Populations of N. kuhlii from the Gulf of Thailand through to Taiwan are likely to be distinct species and are currently under revision by one of us ( PRL).
Conservation status: Data Deficient.
