Generitype of Crepis Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 178. 1929).

Current name: Crepis biennis L. View in CoL ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Crepis biennis , with the type designated by Babcock, was proposed as conserved type of the genus by Jarvis (in Taxon 41: 561. 1992). However, the proposal was eventually ruled unnecessary by the General Committee (see Barrie, l.c. 55: 795-796. 2006 for a review of the history of this and related proposals).
