Bates (1880) described P. caudalis based on a single male from Guatemala ( Escuintla). Bates (1885) recorded the species from Mexico (Vera Cruz), and the Guatemalan departments of Quetzaltenango and Suchitepéquez. Turnbow et al. (2003) listed the species from Honduras.

Material examined. MEXICO, Nayarit ( New state record): El Venado ( 50 m), 1 female, 20.VII.1998, G. Nogueira col. ( DHCO) .
