Biology. The hosts are most species of Pyralidae (Lepidoptera) , including: Bissetia steniella (Hampson, 1899) , Chilo auricilius (Dudgeon, 1905) , Chilo indicus (Kapur) , Chilo infuscatellus Snellen, 1890 , Chilo partellus (Swinhoe, 1885) , Chilo suppressalis (Walker, 1863) , Chilo tumidicostalis (Hampson) , Chilo zonellus (Swinhoe, 1884) , Emmalocera depressella (Swinhoe) , Raphimetopus ablutella (Zeller, 1839) , Schoenobius bipunctifer (Walker) , Scirpophaga excerptalis (Walker, 1863) , Scirpophaga nivella (Fabricius, 1794) and Sesamia inferens (Walker, 1856) ; and one species of Brachodidae (Lepidoptera) : Procerata venosata (Walker, 1863) ( Cherian et Subramaniam 1942; Trehan et Butani 1950; Saxena 1972; Nagarkatti et Nair 1973; Gupta et al. 1994; Chishti et Quicke 1996; Yu et al. 2016).
Distribution. China (* Fujian, * Hunan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang); Bangladesh, India, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mauritius, Pakistan, Sudan.
Note. Chu (1937) first reported this species from Jiangsu and Zhejiang (SE. China).
