Scydmaenus ( Scydmaenus) vestitus (Sharp) View in CoL ; Franz, 1985: 109; but as Scydmaenus View in CoL incertae sedis in Shibata et al. (2013: 150). Redescribed and aedeagus illustrated by Franz (1985: 108, fig. 21), presumably based on type series from Japan.
Distribution. Japan (Honshū ( Sharp, 1874: 126); Kyūshū ( Sharp, 1874: 126); Yaeyama Islands ( Shibata et al. 2013: 150); Taiwan ( Reitter, 1913: 267). However, Franz (1985: 110) concluded that S. vestitus does not occur in Taiwan, and in Vít (2004: 227) distribution is given as Japan only.
