Type species: Heteroglymma echinatum Heller, 1900 , by present designation.

Description. Integument covered with appressed, microgranulate, polygoniform scales; elytra with rows of long erect setiform scales, their length exceeding width of elytral interval. Head with angulate, transverse sulcus separating rostral base; vertex with radial furrows partly obscured by scales. Eyes protruding, of conical shape; separated from apex of prothorax by ca. length of eye. Rostrum. Dorsum medially with weak costa; apical declivity distinct, with sparse setae, with sunk-in scales; dorsal profile subangulate. Antenna. Scape curved, squamose, with suberect setae. Funicle with article 2 slightly longer (1.2 X) than article 1. Pronotum slightly longer than wide (1.04 X); coarsely punctate. Metanepisternum narrow, subglabrous, anteriorly with impression. Elytra subovate; with 12 striae, some abbreviated. Legs. Protibia ventrally simple, not denticulate. Venter. Procoxae subcontiguous, positioned slightly closer to apex than base of prothorax. Mesoventral process trapezoid, 1.25 X as long as posterior width. Abdomen. Female ventrites 3–5 exposed, laterally slightly shorter than ventrites 1–2. Genitalia. Penis ( Figs. 24b View FIGURE 24 , 25b View FIGURE 25 ) with apodeme firmly attached to body. Transfer apparatus spiniform, curved, shorter than body of penis.

Etymology. The name is a combination of the Malay noun nusa (island) and the genus name Syntrophus . The gender is masculine.

Notes. The morphology of the male genital and the consistent placement in molecular phylogenies ( Toussaint et al. 2015 and additional unpublished ones) indicate that this new genus is closely related to Javaulius Marshall. Since the species of the latter genus are found in leaf litter, their habitus and general morphology differs greatly from Nusasyntrophus gen. n. living on foliage. The inclusion in Heteroglymma Faust is impossible by the absence of a protibial denticle. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a new genus.
