Type Species. Cryptophagus ferrugineus C. R. Sahlberg, 1820 .
Diagnosis. This genus is separated from other Caenoscelini genera by the following combination of characters: body elongate and parallel sided ( Figs. 1A–C View Fig ); antennal club of 3 antennomeres ( Figs. 2A–C View Fig ); pronotum nearly parallel sided, widest at middle ( Figs. 3A–C View Fig ); pronotal sublateral lines present ( Figs. 3A–C View Fig ); prosternum without transverse foveae; prosternal process not vaulted; hypomeron without antennal groove.
