Neoproba varians Distant 1884: 271 (orig. descrip.). Lectotype designated by Carvalho & Dolling 1976:809. Diagnosis. Front, clypeus, base of head, antennal segment I, basal fourth of segment II, apex of cuneus, and spots on femora, dark brown to black ( Ferreira & Henry 2011); male genitalia with pygophore and left paramere as figure 10-C.

(Nogueira et al. 2019A); Martyniaceae : Martynia annua L. ( Hernández & Henry 2010; Nogueira et al. 2019A); Poaceae : Brachiaria decumbens Stapf (Nogueira et al. 2019A; Vélez et al. 2020); Rutaceae : Citrus spp. (Nogueira et al. 2019A); Solanaceae : Nicotiana tabacum L. ( Capriles 1969; Ferreira et al. 2001; Hernández & Henry 2010; Ferreira & Henry 2011; Van Lenteren et al. 2016), Solanum lycopersicum L. ( Hernández & Henry 2010).
Distribution. Antillas, Argentina, Brazil (Espírito Santo (Castelo), Goiás, Minas Gerais, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo ( Carvalho 1947, Ferreira & Henry 2011, Martínez et al. 2014, Nogueira et al. 2019 A, Vélez et al. 2020, Burla et al. 2021)), Colombia, Cuba ( Hernández & Henry 2010) , Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Surinam, USA ( Schuh 2002 –2013).

Remarks. See remarks for Campyloneuropsis infumatus . Nogueira et al. (2019) reported prey for E. varians such as Bemisia tabaci ( Hemiptera : Aleyrodidae ), Heliothis virescens ( Lepidoptera : Noctuidae ), and Tuta absoluta ( Lepidoptera : Gelechiidae ).
