Liolaemus sp6

This population is phenetically close to Liolaemus bibronii . It occurs in Los Lagos department, Neuquén province. This taxon can be distinguished from L. bibronii in having keeled temporal scales (smooth in L. bibronii ). In addition, L. bibronii exhibits enlarged scales in the anterior border of the auditory meatus, which are absent in L. sp6. Liolaemus bibronii exhibits spots in dorsal head, which are absent in L. sp6. Paravertebral spots are evident in both taxa, but of different shape (rounded in L. bibronii and line-shaped in L. sp6). It has 46–49 (X=47.5; SD= 1.73) scales around midbody; 41–47 (X= 44.5; SD= 2.64) scales between occiput and hindlimbs; 78–84 (X= 80.25; SD= 2.63) ventrals; 11–14 (X= 12.25; SD= 1.26) scales in dorsal head (Hellmich’s Index); 5 superciliaries; 7–8 (X= 7.5; SD= 0.58) scales surrounding nasal; nasal always in contact with rostral, but separated from canthal by one scale; 8 temporals, upper ones weakly keeled; auricular scale evident; 28– 32 (X= 30; SD= 1.82) laminar and smooth (some weakly keeled) neck scales; 6 lorilabials; subocular scale whitish; 5–6 (X= 5.75; SD= 0.5) supralabials and 4 infralabials; fourth supralabial upturned, and in contact with subocular in 25% of specimens studied; 3–4 (X= 3.25; SD= 0.5) precloacal pores in males, absent in females. Max-SVL= 57.28 (X= 47.9; SD= 8.21); head length (X= 10.21; SD= 1.24); head width (X= 7.84; SD= 1.02); trunk length (X= 21.85; SD= 4.6); hum erus length (X= 4.8; SD= 1.43); tibia length (X= 7.3; SD= 1.24); tail length (in one specimen the tail is not autotomized) = 83.27. Color pattern: dorsolateral stripes, vertebral line on dorsum of body and tail, and paravertebral spots evident. Lateral region brown, with irregular white and black spots. Ventrolateral zone light brown with black spots. Throat, chest, and belly spotless gray. Tail, ventrally with gray spots.
