Habitat and general distribution.
Paranchus albipes is a Euro-Mediterranean species, also occurring in Turkey ( Schmidt 2017). It is a montane species ( Arndt et al. 2011) that dwells in different types of shadow banks ( Serrano 1988).
Material examined.

Comments.
To our knowledge, this is the first detailed record of P. albipes in Crete and Greece. Schmidt (2017) does not include Greece in the species’ distribution, while Arndt et al. (2011) include it in their key for the Greek ground beetles, but omit it from the catalogue provided. The species was found in a small, thick riparian forest. This is also the first record of the genus Paranchus in Greece and Crete.
