Flaccidly pendulous, slender, at least up to 35 cm long. Shoots homophyllous or almost so, equally thick throughout, 5–10 mm in diam. incl. leaves in basal divisions, sometimes tapering to ca 5 mm. Stems excl. leaves 0.5–0.8 mm thick. Leaves borne in alternating, irregular whorls of 3–4, these 1–1.5 mm apart, spreading to ascending, or rarely loosely appressed in terminal divisions, usually twisted at the lamina base, straight to slightly upward curved, linear to linearsubulate, with distinctly widened, subauriculate, usually strongly revolute, often overlapping lamina bases, 4–6 (–9) × 0.4–0.6 mm just above the auriculate base, usually ca. 0.3 mm wide in the middle, with obscure to prominent vein, with the auricles irregularly toothed. Sporangia 0.7–1 mm wide.
Distribution:— El Salvador to Panamá.
Habitats:—Epiphytic in humid forest, 1900–2500 m elev.
Notes: Closely related to Phlegmariurus sarmentosus (Spring) Trevisan (Andes) , but smaller in all parts.

Vicinity of Bajo Chorro, 1900 m, Woodson & Schery 690 (AAU, GH, MO, US).
