Perennial, rhizome filiform, stem slender to filiform. Leaves monomorphic; submersed leaves 10–25 mm long, 4–10 mm wide, 3–7 veined, clasping at base, sessile, margins minutely serrate especially at apex. Inflorescence elongated with low number of flowers, peduncles 10–15 mm long, as thick as the stem. Tepals brown and membranaceous, anthers 1 mm long. Carpels 4, fruits drupaceous, 3-4 mm long, beak 2 mm long. Stele of circular type, endodermis of O-type, subepidermal and interlacunar bundles absent.
Worldwide distribution: —Europe, W Asia ( Turkey).
Distribution in Iran: —Northwest.
