Distribution. Widely distributed in North and South America. USA: AL, AZ, CA, FL, IN, KS, LA, MS, NM, NC, OK, ME, MD, MA, MI (NSR), MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH (NSR), NJ, NM, NY, PA, RI, SC, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY. Mexico. Venezuela. Brazil. Peru. Paraguay. Columbia. Argentina. US Virgin Islands. Chile.
Collection and Habitat data. Found in cow dung in NH, and in forest litter in MI. Elsewhere recorded from human feces, cow droppings, horse dung, dog dung, dead fish on a seashore, organic debris on a lake shore, and a grassy pasture ( Klimaszewski 1984, Klimaszewski 1990). This species is an ectoparasitoid of the flies Paregle cinerella Fallén ( Anthomyiidae ), Orthellia caesarion (Meigen) ( Muscidae ), Ravinia derelicta (Walker) ( Sarcophagidae ), and Sepsis neocynipsea Melander and Spuler ( Sepsidae ) ( Klimaszewski & Blume 1986).
